Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy can be offered in-person at our West Edmonton location or virtually for Anyone residing in Alberta!
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a practical, structured approach that helps you understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours influence one another. You may be noticing that certain patterns- like self‑criticism, worry, or avoidance- can keep you feeling stuck. CBT offers tools to identify these patterns, explore where they come from, and practice new ways of responding that support emotional balance and healthier coping.
Because CBT is skills‑based, it often includes learning strategies you can use both inside and outside of sessions, such as grounding techniques, cognitive reframing, and behaviour change practices. These tools can help reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, improve problem‑solving, and strengthen your ability to navigate stress more effectively.
While somatic approaches and EMDR focus more on the nervous system and the deeper layers of trauma held in the body, CBT offers practical tools for understanding how certain thoughts and behaviours are contributing to current distress. I may use CBT when an individual would benefit from learning concrete skills, building coping strategies, or gaining clarity around how their thinking patterns influence their emotions and actions. It’s a structured, skills‑based approach that can create meaningful change on its own or complement body‑based therapies when we’re working toward broader healing.
I have completed a CBT certification that informs my work and allows me to integrate these evidence‑based strategies in a way that is collaborative, supportive, and tailored to your goals.
