Types of Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is a proven therapy that helps people recover from trauma, anxiety, and distressing life experiences by reducing the emotional charge of difficult memories and supporting natural healing. Using guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, EMDR helps process difficult memories, so they become less overwhelming and easier to manage. I have obtained advanced training in the following forms of EMDR:
Preverbal protocol
Recent Traumatic Event Protocol
EMDR 2.0
Somatic Experiencing
Somatic Experiencing is a body-oriented approach to trauma healing that helps individuals reconnect with their body's natural capacity for healing. By increasing awareness of physical sensations, SE supports the release of stress and trauma held in the nervous system, promoting greater balance, resilience, and well-being. I have completed several years of training to become a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP).
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based approach designed to support individuals experiencing intense emotions and difficulty with emotional regulation. It teaches practical skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness to help create greater stability and well-being. DBT is most effective for treating individuals with borderline personality disorder. I do not offer formal DBT, however, can offer a DBT-informed approach.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a practical, structured therapy that helps you explore how thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are connected. By noticing and shifting unhelpful patterns, CBT supports healthier coping strategies and improved emotional well-being. It is often helpful for treating anxiety and depression. I have completed a CBT certification that supports my practice.
Cognitive Processing Therapy
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is an evidence-based approach designed to help individuals recover from trauma by identifying and challenging unhelpful beliefs that may have developed after difficult experiences. By working through patterns related to safety, trust, control, esteem, and intimacy, CPT supports healing and emotional recovery. It is most helpful for individuals who appreciate structured treatment and will complete homework between sessions. I am a registered CPT provider and have completed additional supervision to obtain this credential.
